Dr. Dauw was in his thirties when he met Robin, fell in love and discovered sex. Just months away from receiving his Ph.D. in psychology--an attainment accomplished by few other priests--Dauw's superiors vetoed the completion of his dissertation and ordered him to follow his vow of obedience to do missionary work in Africa. Refusing to do so, one day in l964, Dauw packed a few books and left, the first priest of his religious order in the United States to ever do so. Dauw was immediately excommunicated. His unheard of act was followed by a massive exodus--50,000 priests-- just a few years later.
The inexhaustible sexual misery that Dauw listened to in the darkness of the confessional led him to become a psychotherapist, a healer of sexual dysfunction, and founder of the first sex therapy clinic in Chicago: Sexual Enrichment Counseling Services--SECS.
Dauw is also now a member of CORPUS, an organization of "reserve priests" who "left the active priesthood" to become "more active," marry or pursue other career goals while remaining eager to serve the church and resume an active ecclesial ministry. Were CORPUS a diocese, it would be the largest in the USA in number of priests. Were it a religious order, it would rank as one of the very largest, similar in size to the Jesuits.
Dean Dauw now holds a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Minnesota. He has more than thirty years of university and college teaching experience, and recently held a tenured professorship at DePaul University's Graduate School of Business.
Dr. Dauw currently is a sexual therapist and management consultant to Chicago-based international conglomerates. He also continues his research and writing and is an active member of many professional organizations. These include the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), the Society for the Scientific Study of Sex (SSSS), a Diplomate of the American Board of Sexology, and Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Sexologists (FAACS).
Dr. Dauw has published several books on career counseling, self-esteem, and two related to sexual surrogate therapy, including The Stranger in Your Bed: A Guide to Emotional Intimacy (Chicago: Nelson-Hall). Additionally, he has authored numerous professional articles.
In producing the trilogy God and Sex, Dr. Dauw has won awards as a finalist in a contest for creative writing in the category "America's Best Mainstream Competition." Experienced and comfortable in various forms of media communications, Dr. Dauw has been invited as a guest on numerous radio and television shows since l981 with Tom Snyder's "Tomorrow" to more recent appearances with Oprah, Geraldo, Sonya, Sally, Jerry Springer, Morton Downey, Jr., FOX news, and the Miracle Network, among others.
When Dr. Dauw met the author of Abolishing Lawyer Tyranny at a sales meeting, the two discussed their books. Dr. Dauw was immediately drawn to Jane's anti-lawyer book, because like so many others, he has been burnt very badly by the legal system in the most crucial type of case that exists today: parental rights. Dr. Dauw has been fighting a legal battle for over six years for his God-given parental rights to Francie, the daughter he raised until she was three, when she was stolen from Dr. Dauw by his ex-wife along with the insufferable, horrendously hostile force of the courts.
Dr. Dauw discovered Abolishing Lawyer Tyranny for Fort Dearborn Press. Both he and the publisher are very excited about this book, and Dr. Dauw was asked to write the book's introduction and aid in the book's promotion, since the author wishes to remain anonymous. In his introduction, Dr. Dauw states: "John and Jane Doe are not lawyers. They've been beaten up so badly and so unfairly by lawyers, they feel obligated to do all they can to help stop Lawyer Tyranny and lawyers' daily feeding frenzies on nonlawyers.
"I feel just as strong an obligation to their crusade, because I've gone through my private hell with lawyers "When Jane Doe brought to my attention her self-published version of Abolishing Lawyer Tyranny, I said to myself, 'It's a Miracle!'
"Not only did I agree with every word---I decided this was an important book that had to be published, mainstream. So I took it to my literary agents, publishers and publicists and now many dedicated people have brought this book to you."
Abolishing Lawyer Tyranny shows how we no longer have to be powerless to Lawyer Rule. It lists all kinds of ways to shut down their reign of legal terror. Jane Doe, along with many of her devoted fans, wants to see lawyers kicked out of government, kicked out of our bank accounts, our businesses and our private lives.
The authors hope to see lawyers' secretive, self protecting associations opened up to the public and want to see lawyers accountable to independent, nonlawyer organizations. Jane Doe says, "We the people can say 'NO' to appointed judges, who make our life's decisions. We can say 'NO' to lifetime judges and lawyer-like government careerists. They say it is our government. I say it will be our government when we take it back from the lawyers."
